Getting Ready for the Trip.

Since you are reading this, you obviously know that we are en route to Costa Rica! But we would like to fill you in on some of the details leading up to this point:
We've always had the goal to experience what it would be like to live the life of a need greater but never really had the circumstances to make it a reality until now. So earlier this year we decided to make it happen.
Now, knowing you want to go somewhere is one thing but to figure out where that somewhere is...well that's a whole 'nother ballgame. We are definitely warm-weather people so taking ourselves south of the Red River was a given. To narrow it down some we settled on a budget for plane tickets and started checking off the countries that were just too expensive! After we chose CR we used www.jw.org to search out the English congregations down there. And since this is partially a severely needed vacation we went coastal; Quepos, Costa Rica, HERE WE COME! (And we contacted the elders down there, which was an amazing experience in itself. They had a welcome need-greaters package at the ready!)

Lacey & Derrick Seward
While at the District Convention this year we mentioned our plans to our dear friends, Derick and Lacey Seward. Little did we know they also had a desire to try out foreign service. Without an ounce of apprehension (on either side) they joined our little venture. Thankfully they did. The first blessing, thanks to Jehovah's support and Lacey's tenacious deal-hounding, was cheap airline tickets. Seriously, everyone we've talked has been astounded at the price we paid.

Fast forward about three months and here we are with just little more than 2 weeks 'til take-off. Apartment rented, luggage purchased, and nerves sufficiently bundled, we are down to running a few practice packings just to make sure we are well-prepared!
